The Archives pay tribute to the late, great Gil Scott-Heron and his brilliant musical partner Brian Jackson. Recorded at Montserrat House, produced by Darryl “Trane” Burke and Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation, and masterfully engineered by Gianmaria Conti. This LP has already been mentioned twice in Rolling Stone magazine and the live debut was at The Kennedy Center in WDC.
On Carry Me Home, you will hear the hauntingly beautiful voice of Puma Ptah, our late friend Mustafa Akbar (RIP), the incomparable Raheem DeVaughn, Mutabaruka, and Kenyatta Hill. Brian Jackson himself graced the record on multiple tunes and Addis Pablo, the son of the great Augustus Pablo, lent his melodica skills as well. And Gil???s percussionist, the great Larry McDonald joined in as well.
This is a very special record, made from pure love and vibes, and I am delighted to share the digital release with the world today. It???s available on all platforms worldwide. An announcement on the vinyl release is forthcoming.
